Do you need support for your students in approaching the digital world, social media and the games and apps that they use beyond the classroom?
The Creating IT Savvy team has developed a program to fit within your school's curriculum, and align with the existing wellbeing policies and programs to work with you to create a team of digitally savvy students who can use their voice to influence and educate your school community.
From Digital Technologies to Ethical Understanding, the Digital Trailblazers program is part of the Victorian/ NSW and Australian Curriculum.
The IT Savvy team can work with you to tailor the program to meet the needs of your school community and address any specific challenges. We work to integrate the program into your existing programs across a range of key learning areas
Knowing how to engage online responsibly, allows students to foster respectful and supportive online communities that enhance their social wellbeing.
Gaining digital literacy skills empowers students to navigate the digital world confidently, reducing feelings of frustration or helplessness and boosting their self-esteem. IT Savvy will not only support digital resilience but build essential life skills!
At IT Savvy, we believe that giving students real purpose and the responsibility to use their voices is essential to making the program meaningful for them and not just a day of using technology. This program is not a passive experience for students as they are challenged to be curious, be reflective and be creative to not only develop their skills and understanding but build the knowledge and IT Savvy of the entire school community.
This is often decided before the day but can change as the investigation gets underway.
Students will survey and research the actual sites used by students in their school and develop need to know information for a relevant audience.
The school will decide:
"Who will be the best audience for your students' recommendations?"
This will determine how the messages are designed and delivered.
Examples include:
Whole School Community.- Key Messages with a website (Google Site) developed by students open to the school community with a link from the school webpage. Website developed
Parents - Messages for parents designed as a presentation for a Parent info night, organised and delivered by students.
Younger students or peers - Messages for students designed as a presentation for a visit to another school (Secondary to Primary), within the school or as a school assembly.
School Community via School Newsletter - Information designed as a weekly feature or a handout developed by students with facts and findings.
Older People - Messages designed for older people developed as a flyer or presentation to a local nursing home etc. Resources for grandparents to keep them up-to-date. See more about student voice.
